I've had so much fun hosting our first ATC swap, so here we go with the
2nd ATC swap. This time the theme is Wings. You may interpret that any
way that has meaning for you or inspires you. All of the details are
below.
International Swappers: We are an international group of staffers here and international swappers are welcome. I realize that getting US postage can be an issue if you live elsewhere. If you include a little something extra in your swap roughly equal to the postage amount from your country, I'll pick up the return postage for you.
Communication is key in a swap. If you run into problems along the way, either ask here or send me a private message. I'd love to know when you mail your swap to me so I know when to look for it. If all the swaps arrive early, then I'll swap them out early.
An ATC is a 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" piece of art made by you in any medium. You can make all of your ATC's for the swap exactly the same or vary them a bit or make them all different. The only rule is that you must sign and date the back of them and number them. You can also include a title, and your email address. Feel free to interpret the theme of wings in whatever way inspires you.
Thanks for reading this far. I hope you'll join in on the fun of our second ATC swap. To join, sign up here.
The Theme: Wings
The Due Date: April 1, 2010
How Many: Make 9 ATC's, keep one for yourself, mail in 8 and you'll receive 8 back.Sign Up: If you want to join the swap, please sign up below and then go to groups and join the Wings ATC swap group. I'll send you a private message with my mailing address. I'll communicate along the way to let everyone know which swaps I've received as they come in. The first 8 people who respond are in the swap. I'll be the 9th person.
Mailing: Please include a self addressed return envelope big enough to hold your ATC's for the return trip and loose US postage stamps in the amount you used to mail it to me plus a couple of extra in case some are heavier for the return trip. I'll send back any unused postage.
Mailing Tips: I've found the very best way to mail ATC's is to buy baseball trading card page holders. These are 8 1/2" x 11" pages with 9 pockets in them. If you put your 8 ATC's in the pockets and your loose postage in the last pocket they will travel well. Then, you can fold up the page in thirds and it fits in a legal sized envelope. This saves on postage costs and they arrive safe and sound. Be sure to tape the envelope closed, so it doesn't come open. Always include your return address just in case. Mail your swap a week before the due date within the US or 2 weeks before outside the US, so it arrives on time. The mail can run incredibly slow. When your swap comes back to you, add your ATC to the remaining holder and now you have a sheet of ATC's to add to your ATC binder or start your ATC binder. You'll soon be hooked on these fun little art pieces.International Swappers: We are an international group of staffers here and international swappers are welcome. Hi,
I'm a subscriber to SNR but I'm away from my home computer and I can't remember my login information (which is stashed at home). I want to sign up for the wings ATC swap.

I'll note it on the swap and put your name down. Please just sign up on the swap thread when you are back home to confirm. Your spot is on hold for you :)

Take-off is one of the most energetically demanding aspects of flight, as the bird needs to generate enough airflow across the wing to create lift. With small birds a jump up will suffice, while for larger birds this is not possible.
